Padmashree Michel Postel, a pioneering French entrepreneur, founded Franco-Indian Pharmaceuticals on May 1st, 1949, with a vision to make world-class healthcare accessible in India. A Fighter Pilot turned entrepreneur, he served as a Squadron Leader in the U.S. Air Force before channeling his discipline and passion into the field of pharmaceuticals.
A self-made visionary, Michel Postel shaped his success through dedication, hard work, and an enduring commitment to innovation, establishing strategic partnerships with Grimault Laboratories and Roussel Pharma that helped build modern healthcare in India.
Beyond business, he was a prolific writer and art enthusiast inspired by India’s heritage.
In recognition of his remarkable contributions, He was appointed an Officer of France’s National Order of Merit in 1971 and later received the Padmashree from late President Pranab Mukherjee in 2016. Today, his enduring legacy lives on through the Musée Asiatica in Biarritz , France and the continued success of Franco-Indian Pharmaceuticals.
