Description

  1. SURFAZ® contains Clotrimazole, which is a synthetic imidazole derivative.
  2. Clotrimazole exerts antifungal effects by inhibition of fungal sterol synthesis. Clotrimazole specifically targets the enzyme 14α-demethylase (a type of cytochrome P450 enzyme), which is involved in the conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol. When ergosterol production is inhibited, the fungal cell membrane becomes unstable, leading to increased membrane permeability and the leakage of essential intracellular components. The disruption of the cell membrane impairs the fungus's ability to maintain its structure and function, eventually leading to cell death.
  3. Hence, SURFAZ® is the drug of choice in the treatment of fungal infections of the skin.

Indications

SURFAZ® is indicated in the management of candidal dermatitis, tinea infections such as tinea pedis, tinea cruris, pityriasis versicolor, tinea corporis and fungal infections of the external ear.
