Description

1. TOPIFORT-NX^™ Suspension is a combination of Clobetasol propionate (a potent steroid), Clotrimazole (a broad-spectrum antifungal agent) and Neomycin (a powerful topical antibiotic) in a suspension form for thin applications to large hairy areas.
2. Clobetasol Propionate is a topical corticosteroid with a high potency and is indicated for short term therapy in moderate to severe corticosteroid responsive dermatoses.
3. Clotrimazole exerts antifungal effects by inhibition of fungal sterol synthesis. Clotrimazole specifically targets the enzyme 14α-demethylase (a type of cytochrome P450 enzyme), which is involved in the conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol. When ergosterol production is inhibited, the fungal cell membrane becomes unstable, leading to increased membrane permeability and the leakage of essential intracellular components. The disruption of the cell membrane impairs the fungus's ability to maintain its structure and function, eventually leading to cell death.
4. Neomycin acts on bacteria by interfering with bacterial protein synthesis by binding to 30S ribosomes. The antibacterial spectrum of neomycin includes all medically important aerobic gram-negative bacilli (except Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and gram-positive bacteria (S. aureus and S. epidermidis are highly sensitive).

Indications

For dermatitis in the hairy areas of the body (scalp, groin, axillae) where secondary fungal/bacterial infections are present, suspected or likely to occur.
