Description

  • RELAXYL DA Thermogel® is a powerful analgesic, muscle relaxant and anti-inflammatory agent for treating acute painful spastic conditions. Gels facilitate greater drug permeation into the skin and faster drug release.
  • The topical application of RELAXYL DA Thermogel® allows penetration of diclofenac through the skin into the deeper layers. In tissues such as tendons where vascularization is rather poor, topical application of RELAXYL DA Thermogel® over the affected tendons can lead to adequate concentration in the locally inflamed region. The systemic side effects of diclofenac are minimized as it bypasses the systemic circulation.
  • The other ingredients used in RELAXYL DA Thermogel® have the following properties.
  • Capsaicin is a counter-irritant and has topical analgesic properties. Mephenesin when applied topically has local anaesthetic and direct muscle relaxant action. Methyl salicylate is a counter-irritant, vasodilator and penetrates the skin and underlying tissues where it reversibly inhibits cyclooxygenase enzyme and locally and peripherally prevents the production of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandin and thromboxane A2 resulting in an analgesic effect.
  • Virgin linseed oil has soothing effects and revitalizing properties. Menthol reduces the sensation of pain and enhances the skin permeation of drugs. Together the combined effects of the preparation give relief in painful conditions of the joints and muscles.

Indications

  • In the management of chronic musculoskeletal pain associated with joint pain, sprains, strains and low back pain.
