Corticosteroid

Description

• Glucocorticoids are potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive agents. They are widely used in clinical practice to treat systemic autoimmune diseases, and also a number of diverse conditions, such as asthma, skin diseases, allergic reactions and other systemic diseases. 
• Deflazacort is a selectively acting novel glucocorticoid drug that possesses the same efficacy as prednisolone and methyl prednisolone in conditions for which they are used today, but with a reduction in one or more of the dose-limiting side effects. Deflazacort is a D-ring substituted steroid, otherwise similar to cortisol. Its anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects used in treating various diseases are comparable to other anti-inflammatory steroids.

Indications

• ETICORT-6^®  Tablet is indicated in the management of rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile chronic arthritis, asthma and other airway diseases, duchenne muscular dystrophy, pemphigus, uveitis, nephrotic syndrome, immune-suppression in transplantation, anaphylaxis, severe hypersensitivity reactions, dermatomyositis, mixed connective tissue disease, polyarteritis nodosa, bullous pemphigoid, ulcerative colitis, optic neuritis, autoimmune haemolytic anaemia, idiopathic thrombocy topenic purpura, acute and lymphatic leukaemia and malignant lymphoma.
