Description

  • Vildagliptin is an orally-active inhibitor of the dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) enzyme, which is believed to exert its actions by inhibiting DPP-4 activity, increasing postprandial active incretin Glucagon Like Peptide-1 (GLP-1) & Glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) concentrations and thereby increasing insulin secretion.

Indications

  • VILDAPHAGE® is indicated as monotherapy in patients not controlled by diet and exercise alone, to decrease blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
  • VILDAPHAGE® is indicated in combination with a sulfonylurea or metformin when diet and exercise plus the single agent do not result in adequate glycaemic control.
