Description

  • ADDEX (Cadexomer iodine) was developed in 1981, and is available as a powder, ointment, paste, and also as a dressing. CI has iodine enclosed in a cadexomer particle. The cadexomer particle is a 3D cross-linked polysaccharide starch matrix in which 0.9% Cadexomer Iodine is physically enclosed.
  • ADDEX (Cadexomer iodine) has good absorptive properties: 1 g of Cadexomer Iodine can absorb up to 6 ml of fluid. As fluid is absorbed, iodine is slowly released, reducing the bacterial load and also debriding the wound of debris. This mode of action facilitates the delivery of iodine over a prolonged period of time—thus, in theory, maintaining a constant level of iodine in the wound bed.
  • A single application of ADDEX (Cadexomer iodine) should not exceed 50 g. The total amount of Cadexomer iodine used in 1 week should not exceed 150 g. The duration of treatment should not exceed 3 months in any single course of treatment.

Indications

  • ADDEX (Cadexomer Iodine) is indicated for the treatment of chronic exuding wounds such as leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, infected traumatic and surgical wounds.
